Time to departure 14:36 h
Now I had a difficult decision too make: not having really slept for nearly 20 hours and only 14,5 hours left till my plane was going back to Stuttgart I was standing here at the border of Valle del Bove in approximately 2000 m altitude (1000 m below the eruption) seeing this spectecular eruption and was thinking whether I should climb up in almost total darkness and without a real trail... you can image what my conclusion was!
This picture shows the South East Crater of Mount Etna with a sligth eruption and the fracture in 2800 m heavily glowing and the start of the lava flow.
