Rifugio Citelli glow
At 4:30 p.m. we reached our hotel (Hotel Corsaro) near Refugio Sapienza (~ 1900 m). But is the eruption still ongoing? The sun began to sink on the horizont, but lots of clouds and fog prevent to see any glow. Therefore we decided to drive to Milo and have a look. At the end, after hundreds of swith backs and several kilometers behind Milo, we succeeded at Refugio Citelli (1746 m) on the north flank of Valle del Bove! Mt. Etna seemed to burn! The lava river itself was not visible from the road but strong glow was reflected in the clouds over Valle del Bove - Etna was still alive! The next day could come ...
