Description

Trecastagni is one of the ancient centers of the Etna. The origin of the name is uncertain, some think that its name comes from the Latin Trium Castorum, from the three encampments roman that were found in the zone, others supports that Agni comes from the Three Chaste, that is from the saints Alfio, Cirino and Filadelfio.

Diodoro then says  that the first inhabitants of the territory were the Sicani, to which sub-entered Sicilian and the Roman. Its inhabitants during the reign of the Angioini struck the French two times, and in the 1837 they were between most numerous participating to the uprising.
