Description

The territory  of the Common  of Santa Venerina in the antiquity was characterized by the presence of a big forest and small plains and hills inhabited from the Sicilian people. The discovery of gold coins and silver in some sepolcri digs in the territory of Linera testifies that the territory was inhabited later on also from the Roman.

The Church of the Sacred Heart

The Church of the Sacred Heart constructed between 1875 and 1878 has a remarkable artistic interest. The external structure of the building is much evocative and the facade to three orders is introduced with an imposing and an elegant cupola of optimal invoice.

The Church of Venera Saint

It was opened to the cult in 1749, and was initially a rural construction with only a bell tower and one room for the chaplain. It was widened in 1754 with the construction of four lateral nails head and the relati altars. It frescoes inner are of remarkable interest, between the more important we remeber the Saint Immense Giuseppe di Paola, together to a group of 700 sec. burlaps representing the Sacred Family, Immaculate Concezione and Sant' Antonio.

Santa Venerina  is dipped in a landscape from the various characteristics. Similar to a terrace, it shows  on the Jonio see, the port of Riposto, Taormina and the campaign where the vineyards rise.
