The weather in Sicily, Italy is usually mild and it is a typical Mediterranean climate. In winter the temperature is hotter respect the rest of Italy and Europe. In fact, during the winter, the rain falls for few months in November and December.
 
In Autumn and Spring, the weather is nicely warm. Summer is very hot, specially in July and August. It is usually that the wind Scirocco from Africa cause an grow in temperatures in some period of the year.
 
In Sicily, the minimal temperatures are between 41°F and 59°F from January to May and October to December, while the maximum temperatures in these months are between 50°F and 77°F.
 
From June to September, the minimal temperatures are between 59°F and 68°F and the maximum temperatures are between 77°F and 95°F.
 
The sunniest months are from May to September. The average sun per month is 250 hours, with the exception of July where it's 350. The rain is present very rarely from November to May, with average of 50mm per month. 
 
The capital of Sicily is Palermo, on the Tyrrhenian sea coast. The weather here is usually sunny and has few rain.
 
The Sicily's second largest city, Catania, is often warmer than the other Italian cities and it is located on the eastern coast, in the Ionian sea.
 
Who visits Catania, cannot lose the show given by the Etna excursions. The weather conditions are different respect those one of Catania. In the summer months, the Etna climate is colder than the coasts and it is probable to find low temperature.
 
Therefore, during an excursion on Mt Etna, you must have the right equipment. Naturally in winter, the mountain is covered of snow from November to March.
 
In the Ionian sea there is also Messina, considered colder than the other cities of the island cause its position near the mountains (Peloritani). The weather in Taormina, Sicily is always the same as that one in the east coast of the island.
