Where can i find Sicily tourist information on events? When is the best time to visit Etna? The Etna has the particular characteristic to be appreciable to all the year. You can practice different touristic activities. In winter months (November to February) you can practice winter sport, but the best period to enjoy the Etna mountain is from March to October. When all stores are opened? Usually in Sicily all type of stores are opened all the week, with a breaks during the afternoon, from 9:00 to 13:00 and from 16:00 to 21:00 o’clock. During the afternoon it is usually probable to find some bar or restaurants open. Some shops are closed during the last two weeks of August. - Archaeological sites are opened from 9-12 AM and 4-7 PM Monday through Friday, and 9-12 AM Saturday; summer hours may be longer.
- Museums are opened from 9-1 Tuesday through Saturday, and some weekday afternoons. Some are closed Mondays.
- Churches are open in the morning from 8 till 12, and some are open after 4 PM. * Most shops are closed Monday morning and all day Sunday but open 9-1 and again 4-7:30 on other days, including Saturdays.
How do I transport my purchases? In base of what you have purchased you can insert all thing in your baggages. If you purchased fragile objects like ceramics, wine bottles, typical products etc…I suggest you to use a roller bag to travel with you. Top How can I telephone outside Italy? To call abroad from Italy there are a lot of systems like a prepaid telephone card. From an Italian phone, you can phone with a prepaid domestic telephone card, purchased in a tobacco shop (Tabbacchino), newsagent (Giornalaio) or bar. You can also use the umts and gsm or internet voip for you calls. This methods are available, the only limitation is in the upper areas of the Etna because there are not umts and internet adsl systems. For the other communications system it’s not a problem. So take a note that not all the gsm function on the Etna summit. Top Is it easy to communicate with the Italians? I suggest you to learn simple Italian word, but it’s not essential because Sicilian people are too adaptive and it’s easy to find people speak well in English. Top What's the weather like in Sicily The Sicilian weather is generally stable. You don’t need particular dress or other similar. You have to consider that during the winter the temperature is more hot on respect the other European country. Rain is concentrated during November-December only for few days. One thing to consider is the Etna temperature: During a visit in the summer months it is easy to climb the Etna and find very low temperatures cause the fast changement of the atmosphere conditions. So before a climb be sure to look for the weather conditions and have the right equipment. During an excursions is a good idea to wear comfortable shoes. Generally the coast areas are better served by trains (Siracuse, Catania, Palermo and Messina), by bus or by car. To arrive into the middle areas of Sicily it's better to take the bus or car. Travel inside the cities is easy with the public services that connects the urban and extra urban areas. To find tickets you have to look for into the coffee shops, bars, tobacco or restaurants. Usually the cost of a one way travel is 3€. Top How can I arrive in Catania by car? Catania is connected by road with all major Sicilian cities. Principally with Palermo, Siracuse and Messina. There are two principal freeways: The A18 that connects Catania with Messina and the A19 that connects Catania with Palermo. To aArrive in Catania from the south of Italy you have to take the freeway A1 that connects Rome with Naples and then the A3 that connects Naples to Villa San Giovanni. You have to take the Ferry to Messina and then take the A18 to Catania. Top How do I get in Catania by train or ship? Catania is connected by the railways to Messina and Palermo. The trains that come from Naples and Rome go directly to Catania. The train arrived in Reggio Calabria go into the ferry boat and cross the strait of Messina. After landing in Messina, it continues the course to Catania. It can take an hour or more to transfer the train into the ferry boat and then cross the Strait. If you like to arrive by ship, Catania has routes with Naples, Ravenna and Malta. Top How do I get to Catania from the airport? Once arrived in the Catania Fontanarossa Airport, you can choose different type of means to go in the center of Catania: by bus, by car rent or by taxi. - Catania is 15 minutes by car from the city airport. Depending on you baggage volume, you can choose the taxi, the city bus of the Amt (the municipal agency for metropolitan transfers) or rent a car in the near rentals.
- There are service bus that link the airport to the central train station. There are Bus services every 15 minutes.

You have to look for the bus terminal in front of the airport exit. Transfer prices go from 0,80€ for bus to less than 30€ for taxi. The airport is well connected with the major European airports and all the other Italian airports every day. You can drive if you are 18 years old. Traffic is limited in certain period of the day: In the morning between 8-9 o’clock and in the evening between 18-20 o’clock.
