The “Charity Challenge” is a beneficial scope challenge. The company is specialized in the collection of resources to use for the communities visited by the same challenge. The activity are expeditions which Etna trekking, races in mountain bike in Sicily, navigations and other types of Etna excursions. The challenges happen in Africa, in Asia, in America, Middle East and Europe. The founders of the Charity Challenge are Jeremy Gane and Simon Albert. The organization was born by a scalade of the Kilimanjaro mountain in 1984 done by Jeremy Gane. After 15 years, Jeremy Gane and Simon Albert were approached to the Commission of Charity, the Found Institute, the Center for Responsible Tourism and other organizations to be sure that their charity challenges work at best. During the last years, the “Charity Challenge” has created a good infrastructure for their numerous expeditions. Today, the company works with the greatest charity institutes of the United Kingdom.
One of the last challenges happens just on the mount Etna from the 24 to 28 May 2007. Here a group of English people, placed in Taormina, start a tour of the Etna for three trekking days. They begin with a track long 37 Km called "Pista Altomontana", that connects the south and the north side of the Etna, passing from the Pineta Ragabo in Linguaglossa. The challenge continues to the top of the Etna at 3340 mt. The group has donated a part of the proceeds to the Nuns of Mother Teresa of Calcutta of Catania, that manage a catering for poor peoples. A responsible tourism that creates a tie between the nature and the man for a greater environmental awareness.
