The Lachea Island and the Faraglioni make part of the Reservoir Natural of the Cyclops Islands. Beyond  the landscaped value, the place has also a scientific value. Its  found full of yellow sand arrives to a depth of 12 meters, and is characterized by rich flora and fauna. In reality the island and the faraglioni  form a basaltic cliff due to the first volcanic manifestations of 500.000 years, when the Etna manifested an activity of submarine type.
 
But in the mythology were identifies  with the masses that ciclops  Polifemo hurled against Ulisse in order to try to avoid to escape with its companions. The Island has an extension of approximately two hectares. Through the perrons the ittic museum can be caught up, an ancient sink, and a room constructed in the hard clay where probably  inhabited a hermit to the end of the XI century, Saint Giovanni the anchoret.
