CATANIA

  • Patronal festivity: Saint Agata, 5th February There are 3 days to develop the festivity of the Saint of the city of Catania : the 3rd, the 4th and 5th February. The most important ones are the 4th and 5th of  February where the saint goes around the city center.

                    PATERNO'
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Barbara, 4th December. The festivity is loved and its  celebration lasts one week. It seems that during a lavic eruption, its relics were brought near Ragalna and  miraculously the lavic flow was arrested. Several processions follow one another in order to celebrate this Saint, whose musical celebrations reach the apex the 4 and 5 of December with the procession that accompanies its simulacrum, games in public square, and bands.   • Patronal festivity: Saint Pietro, 29th June                  
                    ZAFFERANA
  • Patronal festivity: Madonna of the Providence, 1st August
  • Festival: Ottobrata, all the week-end of October. During this festival it is possible to taste the typical products of the place, as the honey, the wine and the mushrooms.
                    VIAGRANDE
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Mauro Abate, 15th  January.  In this day the Patron received from the population with artifice fires assists itself to the escape of the Saint.

                    TRECASTAGNI
  • Festival of the Sicilian carretto, May.
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Alfio, 10th May In Trecastagni, the festivity dedicated to these three saints, takes place from 9th  to 10th  of May. The evening of the eve, a procession accompanies the relics, contained in a shrine of silver, through the streets of the country, touching above all the places connected with  the tradition of the three saints and brothers. While some faithful people follow the procession with one of the large light, others, called “nuri”, participate wearing only throusers in order to respect to their vow.
  • Festival of the mushrooms, bread, October.
  • Festival of the grape and the sausage, October.
  • Festival of the chestnuts and the wine, October.
  • Festival of apples and the cake, October.

                    TAORMINA
  • Taormina Art: In the city  are organized a lot of manifestations all the year. The most known are the Taormina film festival and the  Taormina Art. They regards also music and theatre, in fact, in the summery months inside of the Greek theatre and the communal villa are organized numerous shows.
                    SANT'ALFIO
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Alfio, the first Sunday of May. The last Sunday of april, begins the festivity of saint patrons of the country with fireworks . But it is only the first Sunday of May that begins the true and celebrations, with an evocative sung Mass. In the afternoon, the simulacrum the saints is carried in procession from the faithful people through the streets of the city.
  • Festival: Etna Wines, September.
                    SANTA VENERINA
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Venera, the first Sunday of August.
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Sebastiano, the last Sunday of January.
  • Living manger, keeps every year in the month of December in the public public square.
                    SANTA MARIA DI LICODIA
  • Festival of the Oranges and the Zagara, May.
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Giuseppe, August.
                     RANDAZZO
  • Festival of the wine, 1st May.
  • Medieval festivity, August.
  • Patronal festivity: Vergine Maria Assunta, August. She is the Patron of the country  with Saint Giuseppe. During the eve of the celebration we have the procession of  the sleeping virgin, while the  following day a cart  parades, representing an allegory of the Mysteries of the Death, the Assumption, and the coronation of the Virgin. Many children take part to this celebrations, accompanied by the musical band and soldiers in uniform.

  • Festival of the cherries, June
  • Patronal festivity: Madonna of the Carmelo, 16th July and the last Sunday of september.
  • Festival of apples, October.
  • Festival of the oil, December.
                    PIEDIMONTE ETNEO
  • Piedimontese summer, June.
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Ignazio, 31st July.
  • Grape harvest, September.
                     PEDARA
  • Saint Antonio Abate, January.
  • Patronal festivity: Maria SS Annunziata, September. The patronal festivity begins first of september with the gun shots and the sound of the bells that announce the party and that  culminate the second Sunday of the lata month with the  two marian wagons. In the days of Sunday and monday the simulacrum of the Announced, constructed place on the fercolo in 1888, is carried in procession for the city ways. Musics, lights and fires of limbs make from frame.

  • Extension-Market of the handicraft and the folklore, August. During which are exposed wood objects produced by locals.

  • Patronal festivity: Saint Andrea, July.
  • Manifestation wine Milo, August.
  • Festivity of Saint Martino, November.
                     MASCALI
  • Festival of the nut and apples “Delights of the Etna”, September.
  • Fair of the cattle, November.            
                    MALETTO
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Antonio, first week of September.
  • Festival of the strawberries, June.
                     LINGUAGLOSSA
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Egidio Abate, 1st September. He is the Saint patron. This day is celebrated with folkloristic and cultural manifestations.
  • Saint Rocco, 16th August. It is celebrated for the entire week. In this occasion there are a lot of traditional games, which the “race in the bags” and “scassata of the catùsi”.
  • The Festivity of the Boscaiolo, September.
                     GIARRE
  • Citrus fair, month of September.
  • Fair of the flowers of the ionic-etnea coast, month of September.
  • Extension-Market of the sicilian handicraft, month of December.
                    GIARDINI NAXOS
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Maria, 8th September.
  • Nauta, month of March.
  • Extramoenia: review of classic culture, March.
  • Procession of varette in the quarter of S. Pancrazio and Via Crucis, March.
  • April fair.
                     FIUMEFREDDO
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Giuseppe, 19th March.            
                    CASTIGLIONE DI SICILIA
  • Patronal festivity: Madonna della Catena, 1st May.
                     CALATABIANO
  • Festival of the nespole, May
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Filippo, May. The third saturday of May comes celebrated the Saint patron of Calatabiano and the population assists to the “Descent”, during which “launches ” of the Saint capacity to shoulder from the devout people, road comes down of race for one downhill.
                    BRONTE
  • Festival of the pistachio nut, October 
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Biagio, February and August.

                     BIANCAVILLA
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Placido, 5th October. In this day, the fercolo of the Saint Patrono of the city, exits from the Basilica  greeted from artifice fires and is moved around the city ways. The 6 instead, are the true fulcrum of the festivity, the more felt day for the devout people. The fercolo, goes out in the evening and at the moment of re-enter begins the show of pyrotechnic accompanied by musics and lights.
  • Festivity of the Ulivo, end of October.
                    BELPASSO
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Lucia, 13th December. She is the Female saint of the city, whose religious festivity is indeed loved from its citizens. The ritual begins already the afternoon of 12 December, moment in which the relics of the Saint  go in procession ;in the evening instead we can see the parade of one of the wagons prepared from the devout people of several  quarters. 13 December is the heart of the festivity: after a great pyrotechnic show, the simulacre of the Saint is carried around the streets of the country on a fercolo of silver.
                     ADRANO
  • Festival of the fruits products, March.
  • The festival of the oranges, February-March.
  • Adranita summer.  During all the month of August there are teather representations, musical shows, artisan shows.
  • Easter: Diavolata and Angelicata. It is represented in the public square of the country a written religious drama written in 1752 from the poet Anselmo Laudani. The scenographies represent Hell and  Paradise.                    
                    ACITREZZA
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Giovanni Battista, 24th June. "U pisci a mari" (the fish in the sea) - For the occasion it is mimed the parody of the fishing of the sword fish that was carried out in the strait of Messina and that it is called  “u pisci a mari”. A good swimmer pretends to be the fish before hunted by the fishermen, then hurt.
  • Festival of the fish: the "padellone", July. Every year on the end of July there is the festival of the fish. In a large  "padellone" it is fried  the fish that is served to the inhabitants of Trezza and to the thousand of tourists who come to be present at the event.

                    ACIREALE
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Sebastiano, 20 January. The statue of the saint is brought by its devout people though every street and goes back to the church in the night.
  • Saint Venera, 26 July.
  • The Carnival The Carnival of Acireale is considered the most beautiful carnival of  Sicily, and boasts an ancient tradition that goes back to XVI century. The allegorical carts that parade through the city streets, are prepared during the course of the year from skilled craftsmen, that compete in order to obtain the prize of “King of the Carnival”. Fireworks, music and dances accompany the parade . Among the Allegorical carts, parade the flowered Wagons, adorned with beautiful flowers.

                    ACICASTELLO
  • Patronal festivity: Saint Mauro, 15th January. The Festivity of Saint Mauro Saint Mauro, Saint patron of the country, is celebrated on 15 of January. It seems that the origin of this festivity, has to be searched in the episode that saw a ship stranded in the gulf. Both  the crew and the local population, prayed Saint Mauro whose relics were transported by that boat, that was soon saved. Every year, the festivity is announced by the sound of the bells, the band and fireworks. The relics of the Saint,brought in procession, are greeted by handkerchiefs shaked by faithful people.
